Join Beaulieu during weekends in early December or from 21 December – 5 January** to step back in time and experience a Victorian Christmas like no other in Palace House. The historic home of the Montagu family will be home to costumed characters from the 1880s. Meet them as they busily prepare for the big day, and warm up by glowing log fires. Hear carols around the piano, see sparkling traditional decorations with a tree in every room, and make sure you visit the lower drawing room to watch pantomime rehearsals of A Christmas Carol in the Montagu Theatre.
The festive fun continues with the brand-new Montagu Bear Christmas Trail, encouraging families to explore the Beaulieu attraction over the Christmas period. Montagu Bear is a cherished Palace House treasure who has been living there for around 100 years. However, he has been on an adventure around the attraction and has lost some of his closest Christmas possessions along the way! Follow in his footsteps and try to recover all of his lost items, then be sure to report back to him. This trail will be a great activity for all the family to enjoy, together.
The National Motor Museum is a must-see during a visit to Beaulieu, and over the Christmas period you will see the museum spruced in seasonal decorations, including authentic decorations from the 50s to the 70s along the ever-popular Streets Ahead exhibition, which opened earlier this year. Plus, take part in the fun-filled Comet on the Bonnet activity, and don’t forget to capture your Instagram moment in front of the winter backdrop!
There’s more magic to be discovered in Little Beaulieu, the enchanting adventure play area full of Christmas sparkle for the season. The little ones will love letting their imaginations run wild in the wooden replica of Palace House, while parents have a well-deserved break, hot drink, and even a mince pie to warm themselves up. Keep an eye out for Father Christmas who will be passing by in a vehicle from the National Motor Museum and be sure to give him a wave!
And if that’s not enough to get you in the Christmas spirit, Beaulieu’s glorious grounds and gardens are the perfect place to take your crisp winter walks and blow away the cobwebs. The historic Beaulieu Abbey and Palace House provide a stunning backdrop for peaceful strolls along the pathways, and while the evenings get darker the grounds and gardens will be transformed with the warm enchanting glow of sparkling lights.
Indulge yourself in a festive treat over the Christmas period with special offerings in the Brabazon restaurant.
